The Best, Original Fruit Salad Recipe

  • 3 bananas, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 (13.25 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained
  • 2 red apples, cored and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, cored and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 kiwi fruit, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 3 oranges – peeled, segmented, and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tangerines, peeled and segmented
  • 1 cup mayonnaise (such as Hellmann's® or Best Foods®)
  • 1 (4 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, drained and juice reserved
  • 1/2 (8 ounce) package chopped walnuts, or to taste
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery, or more to taste
  • 1/2 (3.5 ounce) package sweetened flaked coconut, or more to taste
  1. Stir bananas, pineapple chunks, red apples, Granny Smith apples, kiwi fruit, oranges, tangerines, mayonnaise, maraschino cherries, walnuts, celery, and coconut together in a large bowl to evenly mix. Pour reserved cherry juice over the mixture and stir. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until chilled, about 30 minutes.
