Sugar Nut Bars Recipe

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar for dusting
  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Grease one 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and blend together with the brown sugar. Remove from heat; set aside to cool.
  3. Add the flour, baking powder, vanilla and chopped nuts.
  4. Pour into prepared pan and bake at 250 degrees F (120 degrees C) for 50 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Cut into bars and roll in confectioners' sugar.
