James A. Beards Chilled Irish Coffee Recipe

  • 1 cup freshly brewed hot coffee
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon superfine sugar
  • 2 tablespoons whipped cream
  • 3 ice cubes
  • 2 ounces Irish whiskey
  • Nutmeg or cinnamon
  1. Combine coffee, cream and sugar, stir to dissolve the sugar, and chill thoroughly. Put 1 tablespoon of whipped cream in a 14-ounce highball glass, fill with the coffee mixture, add ice cubes and whiskey. Top with the remaining tablespoon of whipped cream and dust with grated nutmeg or ground cinnamon.
