Ice Cream with Marsala and Currants Recipe

  • 1/4 cup dried currants
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup Marsala
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Amaretti or other cookies, crumbled
  1. Combine first 6 ingredients in heavy small saucepan. Boil until syrupy, stirring frequently, about 10 minutes. Cool slightly. Discard cinnamon.
  2. Scoop ice cream into bowls. Spoon warm currant mixture over ice cream. Sprinkle with cookies and serve.
