- 1 (15 ounce) package Sister Schubert's Dinner Yeast Rolls, prepared according to package directions and split into half pieces
- 20 slices turkey breast
- 20 slices tomato
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Cheddar Cheese Sauce, see below
- 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 20 slices bacon, cooked crisp and broken in half pieces
- Parsley
- Cheddar Cheese Sauce:
- 1 1/2 tablespoons butter
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon sherry (optional)
- Position oven rack one level above middle position. Preheat oven to broil. Arrange Sister Schubert Dinner Yeast Rolls, cut side up, on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Top each roll with a little sauce (see Step 2). Layer each roll with turkey, tomato slices and a sprinkling of black pepper. Spoon remaining cheese sauce over each roll. Top with shredded cheddar cheese. Watching entire time, broil 2 to 3 minutes or until lightly browned. Top each with bacon slices and parsley. Serve.
- For the Cheddar Cheese Sauce: In a small saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour; cook over low heat for 1 minute. Slowly add milk and continue to whisk until sauce thickens. Cook on low an additional 8 to 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove pan from heat and add remaining ingredients. Stir until all ingredients are incorporated. Return to heat, stirring for 2 minutes.
