Chinese Lions Head and Sesame Spinach Recipe

  • 1 pound lean ground chicken
  • 1 (4.9 ounce) package RICE-A-RONI® Chicken & Broccoli Flavor
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (2 inch) piece ginger, grated
  • 1 slice ginger
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Chinese oyster sauce
  • 3/4 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons toasted Asian sesame oil
  • 4 green onions (scallions) chopped
  • 1 (6 ounce) package pre-washed spinach leaves
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro or Chinese parsley, torn (optional)
  1. Combine chicken, Rice-A-Roni Chicken & Broccoli, garlic, ginger, oyster sauce, sugar, and egg whites. Form twelve chicken meatballs.
  2. Heat a wide non-stick skillet, or flat-bottomed wok over medium heat. Brown “Lion's head” balls in vegetable and sesame oils. Add green onions, a slice of ginger, water and Special Seasoning, as directed on package. Cook 25 minutes.
  3. Add spinach and simmer until spinach has wilted and Lion's Heads are cooked through.
  4. Serve, garnished with sesame seeds, and optional cilantro.
