- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup half-and-half
- 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 1/2 cups fine dry bread crumbs

- 1 (15 ounce) can HORMEL® Chili No Beans
- 1 (4.25 ounce) can CHI-CHI'S® Diced Green Chilies, drained
- 1/3 cup PATAK'S® Sweet Mango Chutney
- In saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Add flour and cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add half-and-half; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbly. Remove from heat; stir in pepper and cheese until melted. Cool completely, until firm.
- Combine egg and water, beating well. Set aside. Pour oil to a depth of 2 to 3 inches into a Dutch oven; heat to 375 degrees F. Roll 1 tablespoon cheese mixture in bread crumbs; dip in egg mixture and roll again in bread crumbs.
- Fry fritters in hot oil, until golden brown; drain. In saucepan, combine chili, green chilies, and chutney. Cook over low heat until thoroughly heated. To serve, spoon chili onto serving plates; arrange fritters over chili.
