Chargrilled apple and cheese Recipe

  • 1 apple, cut in half and core removed
  • 50g/1žoz cheddar, cut into 2 chunks
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 25g/1oz finely chopped apple
  • 50ml/2fl oz double cream
  1. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6.
  2. Heat an ovenproof griddle pan until smoking. Add the apple, flesh-side down, and chargrill for two minutes.
  3. Turn the apples over and place a piece of the cheese into the hollowed core of each apple half.
  4. Sprinkle the sugar evenly over each apple half and transfer to the oven to bake for ten minutes, or until golden.
  5. To serve, place the apples into the centre of a warm plate, sprinkle over the finely chopped apple and drizzle with the cream.
