- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 cups quick-cooking oats
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 cups shortening
- ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 (12 ounce) jar hot caramel ice cream topping
- In a large bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 6 months.
