Basic Turkey Brining Recipe Recipe

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons kosher or coarse salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
  • 1 tablespoon pickling spices
  1. Mix water, kosher or coarse salt, sugar, minced or pressed garlic cloves, and pickling spices.
  2. Place meat in a plastic food bag (choose small cuts like pork chops, chicken breasts, or turkey breast slices), pour in brine to cover, then seal and chill 6 to 12 hours.
  3. Discard used brine; cook meat as desired.
